In the summer of 2003, Scott taught Janelle how to brew beer and the result of that lesson was a beer called "JanAle." The two brewers thought the beer tasted so good, they wanted to share the fruits of their labor with others. So, after moving into a home with a backyard in 2004, the couple were able to host a party featuring the beers from the 2003-04 brewing season. When deciding on a date for the event, it only made sense to hold it in October- a time to celebrate beer and Scott since his birthday is October 2. But what to call this event? Aha! Scottoberfest!
